SCHOLARSHIPS

In 2017, the Rising Star Foundation started offering scholarships to young adults across the country with a passion for music and performing. These scholarships provide coverage to attend Kat's annual Badlands Rising Star Camp, financial aid for attending auditions, and even continuing taking dreams to the professional level of higher education programs.
In 2017, 1 individual received the Kat Perkins Scholarship and the amount of opportunities increased to 13 Mark Perkins Scholarships given in 2018! Thanks to the amazing amount of support in donations, The Rising Star Foundation predicts to set a new record of scholarships given in 2020! Many of our scholarship recipients have gone to perform for crowds and audition for shows to guide them into the direction of a career in music.

We know that making music allows students to grow professionally and personally, and that music open doors into future career possibilities. Our foundation encourages students to prepare and practice daily for a healthy life in music. We feel music provides a well-balanced means for confronting and solving life's problems, focusing one's attention, and sharing the joy we find with others by working collaboratively.

THE KAT PERKINS SCHOLARSHIP

FOR AUDITIONS OR MUSIC EXPERIENCES

In 2013, Kat Perkins auditioned for a spot on NBC's The Voice, and went on to become a finalist of season 6 with her coach, Maroon 5's front man, Adam Levine. Although the airing of the show only lasted a few months, Kat spent close to a year in the process of filming and preparing, which put a strain on maintaining an income. The Rising Star Foundation wants to offer the financial support of the Kat Perkins Scholarship to help individuals that want to take the journey of auditioning for talent TV shows like The Voice or American Idol, audition for a Broadway musical, or any other opportunity that may require traveling to go after that dream. This scholarship is custom to fit the individual's needs (example: plane tickets, hotel rooms, meals, transportation) and is determined by learning more information about the goal in order for the scholarship to be granted.
In 2017, Badlands Rising Star Camp attendee, Caley Schmidt, received The Kat Perkins Scholarship to travel to Las Vegas, NV and audition for America's Got Talent. This was a one of a kind experience and The Rising Star Foundation is committed to help more individuals with large scale opportunities.
